Sheridan Lake South Shore Campground

It’s true primitive camping—no showers, no electricity. You’re just far enough off the grid to lose cell service, but still only 20 minutes from a local convenience store. Very peaceful and relaxing. Great walking trails. Exactly what I was looking for! Can’t wait to go back!

Loved this campground. All the things you are looking for in a campground. Stayed there 3 nights. Campground hosts are awesome. Cleanest pit toilet bathroom ever. Views unbelievable. Sites were extra large and clean!!

This is a great campground. We tried dry camping for a change and it all worked well. The hiking around the lake was excellent also!

Sheridan Lake South Shore Campground in the Black Hills National Forest was gorgeous and centrally located for our adventures in South Dakota. We reserved site #66 in the Woodsey Loop overlooking the lake. There was a path down to the shore where Bella swam, and we launched our float tubes for fly fishing. We drove to Badlands National Park, Windcave National Park, Mt Rushmore, & Crazy Horse. We rode our bikes throughout the campground, the day use area, and to North shore. Riding bikes on the highway was sketchy at parts with no shoulder to ride on, so we wouldn't do that again. Watching water fowl, boaters, skiers, wakeboarders, and kayakers right from our campsite was great. The campground hosts were very friendly. Fantastic campground centrally located in the Black Hills. Great fishing from shore and all around the lake, they have public access docks to fish off of. Sandy public beaches to dip into the cool water on those hot summer days. There is a well worn trail around the lake on the shoreline to take a great stroll. I come every year and love staying at South Shore Campground!
