Black Elk Resort

Perfect for our Valentine's Day get away. We stayed in the Aspen cabin. Location was great for us because we love to see the beautiful Black Hills!

We use the cabins every year in the fall. We love the location. We love the grounds as we play cornhole and Kan Jam. We love the Taproom with the spectacular views of Black Elk Peak. We especially love the owners!

Positive: This was an unexpected gem a few minutes from Mount Rushmore. Negative: Our itinerary would not allow us to stay longer!!

We stayed with family in the Ponderosa Lodge (the largest of the buildings). Ponderosa comes with 5 bedrooms, large kitchen (with everything you need to make a meal), living room and a hot tub. The staff check the hot tub daily. The accommodations were great for our party, but even better may be the location. You are ten minutes from Hill City, 5 minutes from local spots for a quick meal and 20 minutes from Keystone. It was perfect for all of our trips.

We stayed four nights at Black Elk Resort and throughly enjoyed our time. The cottages were clean and comfortable. We were surprised and quite impressed by the amenities provided and the amazing staff (it's hard to call them "staff", more like "new friends and partners in our vacation experience"). The location, just outside of Hill City, was perfect for all of the activities in the Black Hills. It is clear that the owners really care about providing a good experience for their guests. It was wonderful to return to the cottages after a long day of hiking, biking or touristing, and look forward to connecting with friendly faces. Some were serving pizza and drinks, some were guests just like us. We will definitely recommend this resort to anyone traveling to the Black Hills.
