Sawnee Campground

We camped here for two weeks and really enjoyed our stay. Jerry and his volunteer host team are so friendly and welcoming to the guests. The campground is very clean with no litter. The bathhouses are older but are very clean and welcoming. We will be returning again soon because of the stress free environment.

Sawnee campground on Lake Lanier was great! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The view from our site was great. And it's close to some great restaurants. We weren't in the mood for cooking after a long day on the road so it was great to have so many close options for dinner. But still feel secluded in the campground. It was our weekend at the lake.

This place is amazing and it’s close to home. The staff was very nice, family friendly and beautiful campsites. I went in the spring with my daughter and had to take bring the whole family to camp at the 3 sites. Woke up to a beautiful view. And the kiddos enjoyed walking along the low level lake bank to collect shells. Kept them busy away from screen time.

It's so close to our house but there are a few things wrong here. Camps hosts were pleasant and patrolled occasionally. The grounds are maintained nicely. The sites are nicely sized but not much privacy, they are kind of stacked like dominos. The campsite we were on #33 is on the side of the campground that is along Buford Dam Rd. and there is constant road noise sometimes worse than other times. I don't see how any of the many tent campers could ever get a good nights sleep. The opposite side of the campground faces the lake and may be quieter but haven't been on that side. There is not one provision for leaving the campground before the camp host opens the gate at 7:00am. No parking outside the gate or anywhere near the gate, like other campgrounds we have visited. My boyfriend and I camped there earlier this week because we were in the area for the Phish shows in Alpharetta and we had a great time. The campsite was well taken care of and clean. The electric and water worked great. Clean, maintained bathrooms. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Camp Host even allowed us to borrow kayaks for a few hours. It was a beautiful place to camp.
