Sandy Point Campground

Camp site 93 at Sandy Point is directly on the water. There are train tracks nearby so occasionally a train will go by. There is also a military training facility somewhere nearby. We heard machine gun fire in the morning. Not loud enough to be intrusive though. We enjoyed our camping thoroughly.

Today was cloudy out here but the lake is beautiful!! The camp sites are very clean and they each have a table and a grill. Will for sure be back!

I had a wonderful experience at this campground! There were many shaded tent sites, and a very quick hike to get to the water. The real gem was the playground for the kids by the bathrooms—it was adorable and they loved playing on the climbing rocks.

Endless trains go by every half hour or so, it's way too noisy. Single dump.station is near entrance which is 3.8 miles from our site and the road goes over a steep.mountain pass. Very poor design. Then the weeds, they are tall and clearly indicate lack of maintenance. Our site was 4inches out of level side to side and many holes in our driveway. This CG needs a refresh.

Sites were nowhere near level! It was quiet but the lake had done a disappearing act. Water and power and the CCC museum in the park is worth a visit.
