Sandpiper Lodge

I have stayed down in this area quite a few times over the last few years to visit kids at college. It's always hard to find a clean, comfortable hotel that has a reasonable price. I rate Sandpiper 5 starts because of the value. The room was clean, spacious, and maintained. The bed was comfortable. Location is accessible and parking was sufficient. Best of all, the price was reasonable. Would definitely stay here again and already booked another stay. The building is older so you do hear walking in the unit above or on the stairs but nothing out of the ordinary. We kept the HVAC unit on for some white noise and slept great.

Positive: The room was well laid out and I was given a complimentary upgrade, so I had a double vanity and extra bedroom. Deluxe for the price Negative: Not a huge negative, but if you're going to serve a breakfast, it would be nice to avoid a total "carb fest" and include some protein. Perhaps scrambled eggs are too messy, but how about serving boiled eggs as an alternative?

I had a family emergency and called the lodge to request a refund or adjust my reservation dates. The front desk agent was very unsympathetic and refused any help to me. I asked to speak to the manager and was placed on hold indefinitely. My reservation was then cancelled without my consent and I lost over $300. I would hope a reputable business would not do this to consumers who are dealing with a family crisis and only asking for an accommodation of some kind. What a terrible business practice.

So when you make a reservation on Expedia and select the pay at the property option, this hotel still tries to charge your card a day prior to arrival. Thankfully I reserved the room with a card that had no money on it and now they won't get my money at all. Not only did they attempt to charge my card 24 hours prior to arrival, they instantly messaged me on Expedia about it. I responded immediately and then sent two other messages only to be completely ignored. They can take the time to change your card prior to your stay, take the time to send a message about it, but when it comes to acknowledging customers in return, they don't give a damn... Screw this place

Got a great deal on Agoda. Big, clean, vibrant room that smelled wonderful. The room contained a spacious shower, bathroom, and closet. Comes with mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, lotion, shampoo, conditional, bar soap, and wet wipes, coffee, decaf, and tea. All you can eat breakfast with pool and hot tub as well.
