Sabinal River Lodge

Have been staying here for years when I visit family in the are. Rooms are always clean and everyone is especially helpful accommodating my odd arrival and departure schedules. It is peaceful and there are frequently deer to watch from the balcony.

This place has seen better days! It's sad and neglected. The freezer was frozen solid with no room for any food. The fridge part was dirty. While we were there, the ceiling above the toilet sprung a generous leak during a rain. You would get all wet when you used the toilet. I called to see if someone could come out and take care of it, and the young lady that answered said they couldn't because they were "rained in." Duh! The shower curtain was moldy and cloudy. The hand soap dispenser was empty and you only got one small roll of toilet paper. Fortunately, I had a small roll in my car that tided us over until we could get to the dollar store to buy more. The one great thing was the back deck, but alas, an aggressive cat roamed the back deck and would jump on your lap while you were eating

Beautiful Lodge, Great Rooms, well decorated. Quiet, Peaceful and Safe, Awesome upper rear community balcony with scenic view of an array of various mature native trees. Bird & hummingbird feeders provide relaxing close up views of many bird species. Well mowed and very nice lawn for this part of Texas. Sticker free if you enjoy going barefooted like we do. Nice outdoor setting on both levels, in yard and near river. However the one near the river seems to get skipped on weed eating creating tick & mosquito hazard for those wanting to sit in that more secluded location. Nice picnic tables in rear of the breezeway for reading, writing, lunch and being out of the sun or enjoying the rain coming off the tin roof. This is a family owned lodge, and you can tell that they want you to feel at home as soon as you get there. The rooms are large, clean, with well-equipped kitchenettes. We grilled our dinners every night in the downstairs bbq pits, after enjoying the river in the early evening. We spent most of the time enjoying the view, the birds from the back porch. The owners live onsite, so they are available if you ever need anything.||This is the second time that we lodge here, the first time more than 10 years ago, we stayed with our two boys and we had a great time, enjoying the area and the Garner and Lost Maples parks. We love this lodge and will be back sooner next time!

HIDDEN GEM😍Drove out to Garner with 2 kids, without making any prior arrangements. Wasn't too worried as online I had seen availability in the surrounding cities but I quickly began to panic when no one was returning my calls and the cell and Wi-Fi service were shotty, if any. Luckily on my last shot, the owner of this gorgeous lodge answered and quickly accommodated us with a room. (And so not overpriced) When we opened the door we were amazed at how luxurious and clean the cabin style room was. From the atmosphere, to the decor, the super comfy beds, even the refreshing smell; this place is on point. We were taken back by all the deers we could see grazing from the back balcony porch.
