The Ryan Hotel was built in 1903 and is recognized as a historic lodging destination, combining period architecture, a central downtown location, and the unique character of a living piece of Wallace’s mining-era past. The original building was a modest two‑story brick hotel typical of the era, but after a major fire in 1933 that swept through part of the downtown, it was rebuilt or significantly remodeled in an Art Deco style under architect G. A. Pehrson of Spokane, giving the Ryan Hotel its distinctive decorative brickwork and geometric detailing that it still shows today.
What a nice stay last night. Super clean facility with comfortable room and beds. We were just passing through town and need a place to stay the owner was very kind to get a room ready to our last minute booking . We love the hotel style as it is so authentic to the town and unique.
Staying at the Ryan Hotel was a refreshing step back in time! Each of the hotel's 14 rooms are unique and quaint. We stayed in room #5, with a claw foot tub and king size bed. Neither my husband or I are "bath" people, but we each took a bath in that tub. Our room was quiet, peaceful, comfortable, and we appreciate the antique furniture and decor. Sheena was delightful and welcoming, and makes strong and tasty coffee! Thank you, Sheena, for making our stay special and we hope to stay at the Ryan Hotel again!
Good value for the money and perfect location for exploring Wallace. Everything is a short walk. It is an older hotel so set expectations accordingly but the beds were comfy and it was quite. We picked a room with AC and were glad we did. If it is hot, many of the rooms would not have good airflow. If they would invest in a bit better options for breakfast, it would leave a good impression. Check out the Silver Mine tour, it was very interesting with a retired miner leading it.
This is a great old-fashioned hotel in the heart of a cozy mountain town. The lady at check in was very helpful, offering an overview of local restaurants and attractions. The hotel is right next to a restaurant/cafe and bookstore and a stone's throw from other restaurants, shops, and bars. Would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Wallace.
