Roundtop Mountain Vista - Cabins and Motel

Manager (Brenda?) came out to smoke when we got there and we're unloading. Within 10 minutes of meeting her she somehow slipped into the conversation that she was on probation and drug dogs were brought in monthly to check her room. The hotel was dirty, white stains on the comforter, big hole in the wall, had to move the beds to find wall outlets for charging phones, and there was no hot water. It was late at night when we found no hot water and having common courtesy for other humans I waited till morning to say something. The maintenance man was there fixing the furnace in the next room and he said he had to turn it on. He then came into ours and turned the hot water on and it was just starting to get warm. Dirtiest place we have ever had the (bad) luck to stay in. I splashed a bit of water on the tile in front of the refrigerator and wiped it up so it wouldn't be slippery ... bad mistake as it let me know the tile wasn't supposed to be dark brown. The carpet was also dark brown ... probably was supposed to be cream-colored :-(||The air conditioning or swamp cooler is set for the whole string of rooms with no way to turn it up or down. As a result, the room was way too hot during the evening and by morning (when it was cooler outside) way too cold. We opened the room door to let in some warm air!||Horrible communication from "manager." You get this really perky text before check in (our door just needed an entry code) and one when you leave. The booking was easy. The ladies (Brenda & Tarissa) were very helpful and accommodating. Maybe a bit outdated, but cozy and comfortable. Recommended to my family traveling through the area. Very friendly service. Good price.

The room was clean , but had flaws and the bed was comfortable. It is an old motel and is in need of repair. The courtyard was a junk yard for old appliances and furniture. The TV stopped working, but was fixed. The shower was so small I could barely turn around.

Overall a great stay, and I would stay again. I arrived late at night and was able to go straight to my room when I arrived. Communication was clear and friendly throughout. The bed was comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. There were a few minor issues: the air freshener in the room was quite strong, there was some trash left in the trashcan, and the TV remote was on the bed with the batteries out. These didn’t significantly impact my stay.
