For us, Rockwell’s Retreat was one of those great stays where everything came together, which we’ll remember forever. Appreciating just how big a part of Americana Norman Rockwell was and the nostalgia of knowing this was his home in the 1940s where he produced many of his iconic pieces is super cool and we’re still wrapping our heads around the idea that we spent two nights in what was once his master bedroom. The main building is great on it’s own merits aside from the Rockwell connection, having been built in the 1790’s with the owners having the décor down nicely of the period. Approaching the property via covered-bridge only adds to the charm. Super comfortable room and bedding with awesome fireplace only outdone by the upscale gourmet breakfasts cooked by host Kevin. My wife and
Our stay at Rockwell's Retreat was perfect in every way. The Inn is beautiful the Rockwell room was wonderfully comfortable. Kevin is fantastic the breakfasts awesome.
This small inn is beautifully restored with up to date bathrooms. Little touches through out such as s’mores packs, ice cream and access to the kitchen for a cup of tea and a fridge to put your stuff in are examples of the care Kevin and Sue, the innkeepers , have put into making your stay comfortable. Kevin is also an expert on all things Norman Rockwell so he along with all of the books available add to the uniqueness of this inn. Breakfast is freshly made for each guest. Kevin put the place settings out so that you did not have to sit at the same table as other guests. Provided the inn is not full and everyone does not come down at the same time this is probably mostly the case. |The area around the inn is serene with farmlands and Battenkill Creek. |This is truly a lovely and unique p
Rockwell''s Retreat is truly a special place. As an artist and Art teacher it was a wonderful experience to see the studio where Norman Rockwell created some of his famous paintings. Kevin did an amazing job at making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until we left for our drive back to the airport in Albany. He is a fabulous cook and each morning we enjoyed one of his delicious gourmet breakfasts! Special touches at the inn like complementary tea and homemade chocolate chip cookies were available after we arrived back from a day of sight-seeing. The entire inn is spotless and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Kevin's time, love, and attention to detail in the care of his inn are qualities that few inn keepers have replicated, in our experience. I would highly recommen
What an amazing experience with host Kevin. The place is absolutely beautiful and far exceeded our expectation! All of our need were more than met, and my wife and I can't wait for another visit!
