Residence Inn by Marriott Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol

Smack in the middle of downtown Tallahassee, this Residence Inn sits just a few blocks from the Florida State Capitol and Florida State University. It’s also directly across from Publix, which means you’re one crosswalk away from a Pub Sub and the occasional parade of lobbyists, students, and state workers all pretending they’re not stress-eating fried chicken during session. Front desk staff are friendly in that classic Tallahassee way: equal parts Southern hospitality and quiet awareness that everyone in this town is either here for politics, college, or both. Very disappointed experience. I am a Bonvoy lifetime gold elite member and experiences like this one will slow me down pursuing ambassador status and maybe pushing me into Hilton or any other famous chain. Marriott chain has definitely lower their standards and customer service reputation. Stayed at this property Feb 24-26 in room 402 and let my toiletries bag behind with expensive medication. It will imply visiting specialist to get new refills and a series of insurance claims which will probably get denied due to refill timing. I have been trying to retrieve it for days and the stories and poor excuses keep growing. I have spoken to various representatives, left unanswered VMs and no results whatsoever. The room house keeping associate was rude, she probably liked the very generous tip

If you check in be sure to ask for the parking lot side because the road side has rich kids on motorcycles and expensive racing cars zooming their engines late at night. Very clean, great free parking and nice new facilities. My second time here visiting daughter at FSU. Nice walking on campus and nice eateries and a Publix 1 block away.
