Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Montgomeryville

I stayed here for business for a few nights. The gentleman at the front desk was warming and kind at check in however the pluses ended there. The rooms are old and outdated and smell musky. The hotel definitely shows signs of age and wear. The hotel publishes that it was remodeled in 2022 however i don’t see where. The musky odor starts as soon as you exit the elevator. My room was never cleaned by housekeeping and i didn’t even bother to remind them. I am a platinum elite bonvoy member and that truly meant nothing here. I exited my room on day 2 at 6:30am to find the dining room dark and the staff was just starting to set up breakfast that should have started at 6am. I would not return to this property.

Positive: I checked in late & was given and upgraded room (I assume bc no regular rms were left). It was generally clean but dishes could have been dried and sink cleaned. The desk staff was nice. Negative: A business group was meeting. Most of the hot breakfast ran out at 8:30 and not refilled. Reg. coffee was gone and waited for more. Not told elevator was out or if there was another. I took the stairs. Kitchen chair was torn, glasses wet, sink not clean.

The photos do not represent what the rooms actually look like. We were staying here when visiting Peddler’s Village (our first mistake, way too far) with two babies and the hotel reeked of cigarette smoke everywhere you went even though it said non smoking near our room. The rooms were gross. The lady at the front desk was so nice and helpful from even before we arrived but we could not stay in such a gross smelling place with two babies, we left immediately and found another hotel in new hope. Marriott is usually a solid hotel that we love but this was not it.

My stay at this Residence Inn was pretty disappointing. The hotel overall felt poorly maintained. The stairwells had an awful smell—like old hot dogs being boiled—and the hallways weren’t much better, each with their own strange odor. While my room was relatively clean, it was clearly outdated and in need of some updates. What really stood out though was the staff—most seemed more interested in scrolling on their phones than actually helping guests. It didn’t feel very welcoming or professional. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

The service, front desk was excellent! However, there was no hot water!! For the entire facility! The facility is not close to Marriott standards. Needs major updates/upgrades! There are major competitors in the area. The front desk associate this morning was outstanding! Otherwise would not recommend. I am a Marriott Rewards member.
