Republic Hotel of Ozona

Do not stay!! I had a whole day of traveling and was tired so I was desperate for rest. Nobody was in the lobby when I first walked in. I had to call the number on the note that was on the clerk desk. A man answered and said he would send the "young lady" lady never came, instead an older man. He was kind and respectful. The room was horrendous!!!! dirty stained carpet, old peeling wallpaper with stains, one of the lamp bulbs went out. Bathroom floor was dirty, the toilet seat had yellow staining. Bathtub was dirty. the bed was creaky and not comfortable. The comforter was itchy and scratchy. Sheets felt unclean. I did not sleep at all due to how uncomfortable I was. Looks like a new owner so I do understand it takes time to bring what looks like it was once a really fun hotel. Bed was comfortable and had a good night sleep. But...First, thing should be trash. Every trash can around the property was over full. Second, cleanliness. Use bleach, there was hair still at the bottom of the shower and food left in the refrigerator. I can stay in run down but not dirty.

This was the absolute worse hotel I have ever seen in the 38 years of my life. The pictures you see on Google and Expedia are fake. Don’t be bamboozled people. I did 11 years of active duty in the military so my standards are really low. I rather sleep in the middle of the desert than to sleep at this dump. From the beginning to the end I honestly taught I was in a horror movie. I first arrived to the main entrance and no one was there. I waited nearly 10 minutes before someone showed up. The key card also did not work. They had to take a little black box to the door of the room. They could not open the door to the room assigned, so they tried another door and got it to open. I was on a cross country road trip across Interstate 10 when I started to grow weary. I came upon this place in the small town of Ozona, Texas. Good place. The room was clean, everything was functional. It is a good low cost place to crash if you are passing through the area.

Very reasonable price for what you get ($89 with taxes, pet fee). The atrium was gorgeous & unique, though pool & hot tub weren't operational. Continental breakfast was free. Lady working there was sweet. Room itself was spacious, clean, and no bugs. King size mattress. Showers were hot. Black out curtains on the slider door to the atrium (no windows otherwise). A/C worked well. Quiet other than a couple truck's Jake brakes. We got a good night's rest. Place feels like it was swankier at one point, but to make it that way again would mean the rooms would have to cost much more. It is a budget motel, so adjust expectations accordingly. Overall, it's really a treat that it still exists, and on the budget end, for us all to enjoy. Highly recommend!
