Red Lion Hotel Yakima Center

This is the second time I have stayed at this Red Lion, and I just don't think I could do it again. The positives: you cannot beat the location if you are at a conference here! It is incredibly convenient The staff are kind and helpful! The bed was comfortable enough (at least in the rooms I was in this time) The negatives: Building is old and not all accomodations are the same. Some rooms are inside doors and some are motel style. I stayed in what I would consider an outbuilding this time that felt separate from the other rooms and had motel style outside doors. I have stayed in the inner rooms before and I preferred that. On this last stay, the first room I was in had a problem with the heater. The floor felt damp (maybe it was just cold?) the refrigerator had some mildew in it and

Positive: That the staff was so friendly and my room had a door directly to the pool Negative: My reservation said 3 pm checkin and after riding my motorcycle from spokane, I got there about 4:30 and my room was not ready for another 30 minutes after that. I also did not like having to pay 10.00. Other hotels offer that with stay.

We arrived on 2/28 ahead of an event at the convention center across the parking lot. We had just enough time to drop our bags and get to the event. Upon arrival, I recalled that I had stayed here on business back in the fall of 2018 and had a terrible experience, at that time, I swore I'd never be back, unfortunately the booking happened and it was too late to make a change. Upon check in, I let the front desk know about the previous experience. For your reading pleasure, I have detailed that experience for you below: Back in 2018, very similarly, I showed up for work, had just enough time to put my bags in the room before leaving for a business dinner. The trip was fantastic. We gave lots of leeway to the hotel due to the age and reasonable price. ||The hotel is old and dated. The shower tile was filthy and had what looked like black mold. The corners of the floor be the toilet were filthy. ||The carpet snd furniture in the rooms are worn and dated. The heater was noisy, the mattress was comfortable. There is a fridge, cable tv, coffee maker, etc. the outdoor pool was open. The outdoor concrete steps were poorly redone and loose. The property is well groomed. The parking lot can be sketchy at times. ||The location is great next to the Yakima Convention Center. There is a bar open in the evenings. Downtown is within walking distance as are stores (Target) and restaurants.

Stayed here in December, the heat was not on in the building and it was about 5 deg. warmer than outside (~30 deg F). My room was also at ambient temperature and it took about 2 hrs to warm up the room enough to be comfortable. When I complained about this, I was told "We can't keep the heat on in all the rooms!" . Also the property in generally dingy and the WiFi went out mid-stay. This hotel is in a decent location in relation to downtown but thats about the only reason I would ever stay here.
