A very beautiful hike with gentile climbs in elevation achieved by many switchbacks that allow one to easily climb steep hills. Trail is 9 miles according to the forest service map, we only went about an hour and a half in and back which was about 2.5 miles. The trail is shared with bikes so keep your ears open, but not busy at all and a really lovely hike.
After the flooding they just opened the trail. Trailhead is just 2 miles off the main road. So many beautiful flowers. Peaceful. Gentle elevation gain. We were the only one on the trail.
Red canyon no longer holds elk or deer. It's been over run by idiot out of state hunters from Michigan, Wisconsin and Washington. They ruined their own states and now they are working to ruin Montana.
