Raccoon Ridge Campground

I am from Colorado, so it was great to camp and travel the rolling hills in the Ozarks. We stayed in 48 because it was listed as being pretty level. It's not too far from the top of the hill so it's not a bad hike to the well managed showers, toilets, and laundry facility. It is quite a steep hike from the bottom of the hill. It is gorgeous with easy access to the lake. This was an October trip so the mornings were cool and the days moderate. We camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel and we had plenty of space between different people camping.

It's a nice enough campground, but was made years ago and for smaller RV's. Many spots are quite narrow to accommodate RV's with slides and may have close-in trees. In our case the steps had to have blocks underneath to touch the ground. There is water available, but not at each site, and there is only 30amp power. Sites DO have concrete pads with picnic tables and fire pits.

Nice campground inside Truman state park. The campground loop slopes down a hill. It's a steeper slope to walk up to the shower house from the end of the loop. Site 48 worked great. There is a trail at the end of the loop that takes you to the lake.

It has good spots for tents or travel trailer campers and even bigger RVs. Cell phone signal service was okay for T-Mobile but terrible for Verizon. Lots of trailheads to choose from for nature walks with your dogs.

Bathroom and shower really clean.
