Quebe Guest House

Perfection. A balm to the soul. We traveled from Houston hoping for a respite from the noise and hustle of city life. Boy, did my husband choose well. We stayed in an historic house situated on land which has been returned to its original prairie state. Other than birdsong, the area is quiet. | Butterflies flit through wildflower meadows (actual meadows).||The house was clean, beautifully furnished, and decorated with period antiques. There is a large dining room, a comfortably appointed living/sitting room, and a good sized kitchen. Behind the kitchen, we ate breakfast while enjoying nature through the enclosed porch windows. Quebe is my happy place! If you love vintage, 100+ year old farmhouses, and quiet country living OR you just want a comfy place to stay...run, don't walk! The owner is wonderful, the beds are comfy, hot showers and a full kitchen! You honestly will not find a more wonderful place for a writer's retreat, a family reunion, or a beautiful wedding venue! Or a vacation getaway!

Honestly I don't want the secret of our little hideaway to get out but the praises of Quebe Farmhouse require being told. We have stayed at Quebe 2 times so far and will be returning as soon as we can manage. I was proposed to under one of the old beautiful trees on the property last year! We stayed as a group of 6 our first time and this lovely antique home housed us very comfortably and the same goes when we just stayed as a couple. My favorite part is the old covered front porch and the kitchen. Charlotte (the owner) thinks of everything that you might require in the house from the pantry to the bathrooms. We spent New Years weekend here and absolutely LOVED this place!!! The house is decorated beautifully with all sorts of antiques and pictures that reminds you of being at your grandmother's house. When we arrived, there was a homemade cinnamon coffee cake and coffee waiting for us which was wonderful considering it was raining and cold outside. The house is furnished with just about everything you can think of. In the refrigerator, Charlotte (the owner) left us eggs, bacon, milk, cream, juice, jam, butter plus all kinds of other condiments for us to use. The pantry had dry cereal, pasta, chips, granola bars, plus all kinds of baking necessities if you so choose. She was extremely helpful in making recommendations for restaurants and nearby attractions. The house feels like it is in t

We just spent a long weekend here with our two small boys. It was a wonderful visit. The farmhouse was spacious and very well kept (especially for a home dating to before the Civil War). With 4 bedrooms, we easy could have invited the grandparents along. There is only one bathroom, but I don't see that as a problem. The bedroom are pretty spacious for dressing and primping!||||The hosts (who stay nearby) have a well stocked kitchen and pantry at the house...although we had trouble getting any food in our kids because they wanted to run and explore the land around the house from sun up to sun down.||||We will be back!
