Pyramid Lake Recreation Area

Pyramid Lake is an area of beautiful views along US 5 headed north out of LA. Access from the highway is easy and parking is plentiful. Surprisingly for such a gorgeous area not so far from LA, in my experience, it is never crowded and on weekdays, you have the lake almost to yourself. Walking among the flowers is almost as glorious as swimming in the lake but in early morning or late evening, be on guard for snakes. In the midday, they are wise enough to stay in the shade. Sagebrush Sinay says: Despite the lake, this terrain is desert and the sun can be intense. Stay protected from excess sunshine and stay highly hydrated to make sure your desert adventure remains pleasant and safe.

Great place to rent a boat to tour the lake or just have a family picnic. The fishing is great most of the year from April to December. Take the Smokey Bear exit off the I-5. Vista Del lago doesn't take you to the Marina, and the lake access ( shoreline)there is restricted to summer time. They stock it with Mt. Lassen trout from November to April. The Striped bass fishing is good along with smallmouth and largemouth bass that will hit a variety or lures from Spoons to soft plastics. They usually have bait at the boat rentals store along with a few camping essentials and some food/ snacks drinks etc.

Fished along the shore was great, they just stocked the day before, fish are biting and that's what counts, you can rent a boat or shore line fish. Nice convenient store by the dock with night crawlers and an assortment of snacks.

Been driving by for years on the interstate-5, and decided to stop by the scenery today... Small fee for parking but worth the price. Felt like a small private beach...

Beautiful lake with ample parking lot. Parking fee is $15 and must exit before 6:30 pm . Lots of tables with shelter. Also, boat rentals are available here. It’s too crowded during memorial weekend. Water is not clean, algae can be found and it’s not a good place to swim . Dogs are allowed to swim in the water. You need to carry your own canopy if you plan to spend time near the water. P.S it will be too hot with not much shades. Restrooms are not maintained well.
