The lakes are beautiful. But, there were bugs, bugs, a lot of bugs in June/July. In 2021, I went there on the Independence Day. There were much less bugs.

Beautiful lake. Gorgeous area. I wondered why there was no one else there...then I stepped out of my car. Mosquito armageddon. Literally it was worse than anything I've ever experienced. I'm not a wimp. I'm not afraid of bugs. I've lived in the U.P. This was uninhabitable. I breathed in more than I care to admit. They covered every inch of me. I jumped back in my car and took off with the windows open to try to blow the 500 mosquitos out of my vehicle. I'll try again in the fall after the frost kicks in.I'm usually not in favor of pesticides. This area needs to be sprayed. I'm very anti-mosquito right now :) I found myself feeling sorry for any mammal that has to call this area home. The poor deer, etc.... I dare you to try to step outside your vehicle. Go ahead. Triple dog dare.

Omg drove 5 hours and it was horrible, taken over by atv’s and inconsiderate campers. One guy took up 3 sites for his camper, boat, and atv’s and ran the generator all night. When the atv’s come thru the campground the dust is so bad you can’t open your eyes. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

Family goes camping here every year for the past 20 years, always enjoy it. During holidy weekends the locals usually fill up the good sites, but otherwise its a great rustic campground. All the sites are easy to fit trailers or tents, theres a lot of trails to walk back to the other surrounding lakes, and the views on Pretty Lake are beautiful. If you're kayaking or canoeing you can dry portage from Pretty lake to Brush to Camp Eight and then you have a few options to other lakes like Long Lake and Beaver House.
