I travel a lot for business purposes, sometimes with a unexpected stay. I stayed at the Patio Palms for about 3 months and found it very pleasurable and quiet with the exceptions of traffic and service station next door to it for the area it was in. The price was reasonable and it was clean. There was no maid service but it didn't bother me much because it gave me privacy and am very capable of attending to my own needs. Never seen any bed bugs or roaches. As with all Hotels or Motels, you will come across undesirables, "Drunks" mainly. After seeing some of the other reviews of other hotels and motels I've stayed at, and problems they uncountered with unruly guest, I find most bad reviews are of those type who either couldn't pay or was thrown out, so I never really follow reviews.

The only review was 4 years ago. I thought I might clear things up a bit. The place is now a complete dump. Patio Palms is a motel for transients. It only costs $200.00 per week, but is so NOT worth it. The room is tiny. There is NO house keeping. My room had mold and cockroaches. The owner is a complete jerk. You are not allowed to have any visitors. They filled the pool with dirt, and covered it with grass. If I worked for the health department, I would shut this place down permenantly!

I was going to spend $1000.00 on a beach room for the week, but found this gem on craigslist. For $175.00 we stayed the entire week - Clean sheets, towels, nice room - Unbelievable price/value; owner/manager was a nice couple, offering to help us with directions and information. From here we saw the pier, Clearwater beach, sand key, the Clearwater mall, Hooters, went fishing and went up and down the island. If your on a budget, this is the way to see all of Clearwater and not be locked down to one area of the beach.

Hands down best in the area for fried clams. No little pieces here! Patio exceptionally comfortable even in the heat of the day. Beach view fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful with regards on how to score a gold umbrella!!

I only rated this motel one star because there is no option to rate it zero stars. First the good: It's cheep. As of November 17, 2015 it's $37 a night or $197 a week not including tax. It is convenient to most of the things you want to do near downtown Clearwater. It includes free wifi and free internet. Now for the bad: The place is a run down dump. The rooms are tiny. The "kitchenettes" were new in the 1970's. The furniture is even older. You are lucky to get a single bar with the wifi and you can expect to be off line about 90% of the time. The TV's are old style 19" cathode ray tubes. Bring a plastic mattress cover if you don't like bed bugs. The rooms smell like 20 chain smokers were locked in each for the last 40 years. There is NO maid service. There are NO phones in the r
