Palmer House Hotel & Restaurant

My husband and I ate here on Wednesday. I had the fish and chips, fries, and I chose the cream of broccoli Cheese soup. My husband had ordered the Prime Rib. The food is not fresh, comes frozen. My cream of Broccoli Cheese soup was very bland. My fries were kind of on the soggy side. The fish was not bad but for the price, I had better for less. The Prime Rib sandwich that my husband had wasn't the best cut of prime rib he has had better and not as expensive. My husband does have celiac disease we are used to paying a little extra, but we never had to pay $30 for one sandwich. The place isn't really a fine dining establishment I would have to put it about a Bar and grill style of establishment. The hotel provided everything a traveler might need. There was even a sewing kit in the bathroom and earplugs by the bed. It might be a good idea to use the earplugs. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown at the intersection of the two main roads in town, and many semis travel by the hotel. The hotel staff leave by 9 pm and don't come back until 9 am. This is why they provide an outside key if you need to get back in during those hours. The hotel has lots of merchandise for sale including books, clothing and ceramic birdhouses. |The hotel is almost 125 years old, and the stairs seem narrower than modern stairs. The hubs and I stopped into this quaint spot for lunch yesterday. What a fun place for history buffs, paranormal seekers, or just anyone that enjoys reminiscing about the good old days! It took me back to my grandma's kitchen table when I was a kid! I was first going to face the street at our table so I could people watch, but then decided that I wanted to take in all that there was inside! It's amazing to see everything from "back in the day"! I could have stayed all afternoon! The food was very good, old time home cooking on this menu! Be sure to wander around and check the place out. They have guided tours, but are very busy in October with Halloween!

Amazing staff, amazing food and an amazing hotel! Everything was perfect and we will be back! The haunted tour of the basement was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced.

My dad and I were in town for a wedding and I knew the history of The Palmer from family tales and paranormal podcasts. I told my dad that if he heard anything out of the norm, just start taking pictures with his digital camera. I went to bed, he stayed up. He kept hearing banging on the wall from the hallway outside the door to our room. He opened the door, saw nothing but snapped away with his digital camera. The next day he told me about the banging on the wall and I checked the camera. HE CAUGHT A CHILD HIDING BEHIND A CHAIR IN THE HALLWAY!! There are 2 consecutive pictures of the chair, one with the child and one without. I was taking pictures of the historical photos in the lobby and caught 2 different angles of a woman with a white bonnet on her head. One picture she is facing forw
