Pactola Reservoir Campground

Another Privately run Federal Park 😵 way More politics than if the federal government was actually running it! This issues are with the Head of the company not the host at least not Most of them! This is one of several run by that same private contractor in the area. At one time they thought they were exempt from accepting federal passes and discounts.! The only private concession that can refuse them is Hotels like the ones in Yellowstone Park it's not right but its how our Park national Park Or any Federal Park system is run today, I don't know if it's better than a Shutdown of the government we can do better by finding out who manages a location and avoid the ones rune by a Third Party.

We tent camped at Pactola Campground (7 adults) on sites 71 & 72 and it was the perfect set up! The facilities were clean & staff was friendly. The only “darn” thing was the camp information we received said there were showers at the marina - not true, apparently they burnt down in 2018. We didn't expect them in the first place, but just a heads up! My tips would be to bring water shoes, the tiles underwater are sharp and a mirror the bathrooms do not have one. The trails are just the right length to hike!

Nice campground with great views, extremely frustrated I had to drive 8 hours over 3 days replacing 3 wheel bearings on my trailer roll in at 11pm to learn that the camp loops were closed for the season on September 10th... What happened to free camp/open campground after labor day? If only there was a website that someone would update notifying people of the camp closures. Like maybe the Google website that I am currently writing this review on. Very disappointed.

Great campground - clean and well maintained. The lake is beautiful and and clear and we enjoyed kayaking around the whole lake. It’s a bit pricey ff the beaten path but well worth the visit! We loved kayaking in the crystal clear water!! The Sugar Shack has great burgers!!

Spacious Forest Service Campground. Great for tents or campers, not the best if you have a very large length (35'+) as long sites are limited. Bathrooms are clean. Proximity to lake is awesome for launching kayaks, paddle boats or for shore fishing.
