Oakland Mills Park

Oakland Mills County Park, situated on the Skunk River, is a mish-mash of congruities and contradictions. There are three--rumor has it four--campgrounds surrounding the old dam built at Oakland Mills. All that is left of the community now are a few homes and a little restaurant with a lot of personality (and the winner of a pulled pork contest, I believe). The rumor-has-it campground is the primitive campground on the north side of the river. I couldn't find it, so I guess when Henry County says "primitive," they mean it. One guy in an RV said he likes it over there, so I guess it exists . . . somewhere. It might just be a wide area in the road. The South Shore Area campground is the nicest, in my opinion. There is nice grass and cement pads for the rig. There is a large area for tents

Fishing is ruined by blood sucking mosquitoes

A good park to visit for fresh air, fishing and camping. A nice view during sunrise and sunset.

We stayed on the south side and it was clean and well kept. The spot was a little cozy but we fit just fine. Cell service is rare but we had no complaints.

Great river park with camping and a nature center, frisbee golf, a cool walking bridge over the Skunk river, great fishing and a small playground. Picks are from early June during major flooding.
