Not So Hostel

Certain properties exist to function for certain types of people. This property is an excellent fit for anyone looking for superb value in an incredible location. The thrills are in the character of the building and the area you’re staying. The small attentions to detail make the property extra special and it’s clear that there’s care and love that has gone into making this place warm and welcoming. We had a few niggles in the India Room which we stayed in for three nights but which we gave feedback to the GM Vicki who was amenable and apologetic. Overall however we would stay again in the quieter months and when the winter sunshine makes Charleston pop.

Fantastic stay at NotSoHostel !!! AAA+ customer service from Bailey & Vikki who go out of their way to make sure that we travelers are checked in and made comfortable efficiently and with kindness. Added touches like a fully functioning, kitchen, coffee beans, so you can truly make fresh coffee for yourself in the morning before heading out to explore Charleston, and extra linens and umbrellas, demonstrate the desire to make sure that everyone feels welcome and cared for! Interesting housemates at all times from around the globe in the country. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Not So Hostel! The location was awesome — close to everything but still nice and quiet at night. The place was super clean, and I loved how easy the parking was. Showers worked great with plenty of hot water too, which is always a win. The only thing I wasn’t too fussed about were the beds — both the futon and main bed weren’t very comfortable. But honestly, everything else was so good that it didn’t really bother me. I’d definitely stay here again!

Amazing experience. Very clean, spacious common areas. Great Veranda/porch and the nicest host Vikki that helped me with ll my questions i had!! Great location just 15 min away from King street away. Highly recommended! Hope to visit the hostel soon! Henri

UPDATE - Got back to us a few hours later saying her "staff" gave us the wrong room directions lol. Offered a free night and refund after we already were forced to go to a roach hotel few miles away as a last resort. Even so, the rooms are easily pushed open when locked, as we did. Someones laptop was out on their bed along with all their other stuff. Not safe at all. And telling someone the wrong room is definitely something you should triple check before a guest arrives especially with a self check in service where the door is just unlocked and the key is under the pillow. Literally anyone can take any room. When we arrived for check in at 5pm someone had already taken our room. Literally locked the door and had their stuff in it. The doors are EASILY able to be popped open by just push
