Northwoods Best Inn - Chetek

We were coming here based on decent reviews however the night before heading up my mom had.a severe medical emergency being admitted to a hospital. I needed to be there since I handle all of her medical decisions. I called and spoke with manager Michelle the next morning the day of our reservation. I did not want to cancel only book to a later date when mom was stable and she said we would lose the initial money and have to pay again. All the excursions and activities we had planned gave us the courtesy of changing dates at no charge but she gave us a rude and abrasive rant about how she had lost money on her own vacation due to a flight delay comparing that to my mom's hospitalization. Got a king room for a night #105. Had an issue with the air conditioner. It would cool the room, but was humid air and left everything damp. Was like sleeping in a tent. Hopefully they see this review and fix the issue. From what contact I had with staff, they were very nice. Pricey, and very limited breakfast. However, room was very clean. Not sure if we will stay here again.

Was truly displeased with this hotel, tried to talk to the Manger and she hung up on me. Tried to use the pool ( hot tub broken) there was 12 children not being supervised. We put our personal things on a table with our towels I wear hearing aids wrapped them in towels got in hot tub(only to realize it was broken).When these children took our towels and my hearing aids hit the floor with a pool of water on it.. Went to the front desk got no help. Wouldn't tell us room of family didn't know! Did nothing to assist. Next morning the girl at front desk eating pancakes, while we watched 3 different couples clean up tables so they could eat, while she ate pancakes and visited with the cleaning staff behind the desk. This staff and manager could care less about there guests. Hearing aids are 6,00

I have several concerns with this hotel. It is overpriced. It's basically a notch above a Super 8 and they are charging Hilton prices without the amenities. The free breakfast is very limited and is not well maintained. We are talking a few pieces of fruit and some yogurt. Not well maintained at all. The manager of this hotel is extremely rude and unprofessional and refused to discussed an issue we had with our bill. There are lots of better choices for hotels in the area- don't waste your time or money.
