im only leaving two stars because im salty. i mistakenly put the wrong sticker on my car then went ahead and made the hike to go set up camp. Long story short, exactly as midnight hit, we got an unexpected visit from the local sheriffs department! We were escorted back to our vehicle after a thorough search of all gear. I had a rock in my pack from a previous stay at palo duro, which the officer found and cited me for. All in all be sure to dot your I's and cross your T's if you plan to camp here. Otherwise im sure your stay would be more in line with mine rather than the other reviews for this camp site.

North Prong Primitive sight is one of the few true camping sights in the park. There is no water, electricity, awnings or fire rings like in some of the other camping sights. You must hike in a little over half a mile from the parking spot with all gear and supplies. This is the desert which can be windy and fluctuate between hot or cold weather at any given time. I recommend checking the weather and packing accordingly. Over all the weather there was beautiful. Many hike the trail, however there are few who set up camp there. This can be a pro or a con dependent on your comfort and experience level. Remember, there are wild animals out there so pick a spot which gives you the advantage from them, the weather, and don't leave food containers open or out to attract them. Guns are not autho

I hiked to this campground to have a look. I hope to be able take the grandkids here for an overnight adventure. The gampground was clean and level with a bathroom facility. The location is beautiful and serene.

Great time and beautiful area. Be sure to carry enough water with you!

Excellent primitive basecamp for exploring the park. There is a latrine. There is no drinking water available. Bring your own and bring plenty because there is also no shade. The ground is rocky and sandy. I tied my tent stakepoints and guylines to rocks. In case you're thinking of bringing a hammock, don't. There are many low shrubs, but no suitable trees. It can get very windy here! Make sure that everything is packed away and/or fastened down well at night! (One night I thought I was going to wake up in Oz!)
