Motel Inverness

I spent an October weekend here at Motel Inverness. I traveled alone and stayed in a room that had a private patio overlooking the marsh/bay, but I opted to spend my early mornings at the main lodge area’s patio as it was more expansive with a wide view. Accommodations were comfortable and the location is great if you’re hoping to bounce around the various Point Reyes sights. As for what’s nearby, a few minutes down the road is IP Market and Tap Room (you can load up on market items and sandwiches/hot food). Motel is only 6-8 min drive from Point Reyes Station which made it easy to visit town easily. I recommend this place if you want to have a quiet stay in the area.

What a great spot! Cozy and comfortable with great views from our outdoor porch. It was a wonderful spot to come back to after a rainy day in Port Reyes searching for birds and bobcats! Plus, one of the owners, Mara, was incredibly kind and helpful in making restaurant suggestions and giving us some ideas of where to hike in the park. My son and I will be back for sure!

The room we had was nice - clean, good furnishings, all that we needed.The lobby/living room was spacious, with lots of windows, a small kitchen, fireplace, comfy couches, and fantastic views. The deck was big, with a long boardwalk out to a sitting place over the wetlands. We’re planning our next visit already.

When you need a cozy no-frills place to sleep after a day of hiking, etc, this place is perfect. The rooms are small and the walls are thin, but everything is comfortable and works well. I love the lodge, where you can have a little shared fridge space, make very good coffee, and nab some biscotti. The view is incredible, and other guests hang out there to watch birds. We saw a bald eagle through the telescope. Depending on the other guests, be prepared to make conversation, but everyone I've ever met there is nice.

Getting ready to pack after a 3 day stay. As others have mentioned, beautiful location along West side of Tomales Bay. Nice central location to travel north or south (we did both). Comfortable bed, nice bathroom and shower and wonderful kitchen (we cooked nice meals a couple times). Breathtaking views (see attached photos). Quiet and serene. Great lodge room with awesome fireplace and lots of treats like included tea, coffee. Played a fun game of pool (first time we played pool in decades). Friendly staff/owners. Highly recommended. Would come again
