Motel 6 La Mesa, CA

The room was excellent even for a Motel 6. Simple, no frills but in very good condition, clean and comfortable. The stairs can be rough if you have trouble with stairs. Also parking was full on Friday night and the only option was the the street. I know this area well and the street is not a good option. Fortunately someone left about a hour hour after we had gotten back to the motel for the night and we got that parking space. The worst part was Eugene's attitude about there not being enough parking. Basically he couldn't care less. The other two nights there was plenty of parking. Great room, quiet, and appeared to be recently remodeled. Great price!

The stay was pleasant. The bed was comfortable. Water pressure was nice. The area surrounding the motel was quiet. There are a couple of fast food restaurants and a coffee place within walking distance for convenience. Check in and check out was also easy.

Central location to SDSU and La Mesa area. Unfortunately, the mattresses are old sprung wire ones that have depressions where people sit on the edge. The heater has an unusually acrid sour odor that permeated the room. It was bad enough I had to air-out the room several times. It can also be very noisy during the day since it's right on the road, but that is no fault of the management. If the beds were updated to memory foam like the 'other' Motel 6 in La Mesa, and the HVAC unit sanitized once in a while, I would give it five stars for a motel 6... It does seem hard to find a truly good budget motel in the San Diego area, so my review is weighted with that in mind. Parking is very tight also. I had a great stay here. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the staff were welcoming and professional. Check-in was smooth, parking was easy, and the location was convenient. Overall, a peaceful and pleasant experience. I’d definitely stay again!
