Motel 6 Fort Stockton, TX

You obviously get what you pay for, or what you don’t get for the lower price you paid. I needed a simple, clean, and inexpensive room for one night while driving from New Mexico to Austin, Texas. I’ve stayed at many Motel 6’s over the decades since they began and many of them are excellent, economical facilities. Some, however, are the older style buildings that have never been upgraded or maintained in the manner they should be. Unfortunately, the one in Ft. Stockton is one of these.||A handicap room with an oversized, roll-in type shower for wheelchairs is great, but why would you build such a facility for handicapped persons and install no grab-bars or handles of any kind, and no shelving inside the unit for shampoos and such? Positive: The room A/C was NOT working. Was moved to another room, it did NOT have microwave or refrigerator. I ask for them to send me those appliances. Cause the new room did not have any. I stayed there for 1 week, working out of town. :( Negative: NO microwave and refrigerator

Right off the highway on the west side of town, clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient. Front desk service is great. Plenty of hot water with good pressure, comfortable beds, good uncomplicated TV service. Our room did not have a tub, but I haven't had a tub bath in 20 years. Two washers and dryers on site make it very convenient if you're doing long distance traveling or have a prolonged stay. Ice machine was broken, but the in room refrigerator was more than adequate. We there in December and the pool was undergoing repairs. All hard surfaces which make cleaning and disinfection easy and ensure a bug-free experience. Short drive to historical attractions, stores and restaurants.

The shower water starts rusty but clears pretty quick. Unfortunately it doesn’t warm up and at -4c you kinda need a warm shower. The receptionists were very kind and helpful but I don’t expect any changes. Another note - the picture of the pool is false. I get the feeling that the owners aren’t keeping up appearances on purpose. By far it’s the worst Motel 6 I’ve ever stayed at…yes I travel cheap however money is money and for $50, I think getting a bed and shower should be the minimum, no?

Just passing through town on my way home from trip. Area was quiet room was clean. Fresh towels & plenty of hot water
