Monty Campground

Please be aware of the last review from "J". This campground is remote and not recommended for RV's, has no water is over an hour and a half from Sisters on forest service roads and not even close to Whychus Creek. Please go to the forest service website and maps before thinking about going here. Yes its beautiful and along the Metolius but there is no easy way to it.

Monty Campground is a quiet, well-kept forest campground that offers a classic Central Oregon camping experience without the crowds or commercial feel found closer to town. Located just outside Sisters in the Deschutes National Forest, Monty is ideal for campers who want trees, space, and a relaxed atmosphere while still being close to trails, creeks, and town amenities. The campground is set among tall ponderosa pines, providing excellent shade and a sense of privacy at most sites. Spacing between campsites is generous, which helps keep noise down even when the campground is full. The ground is mostly flat and compact, making it suitable for tents, vans, and small to mid-size RVs, though it’s not intended for large rigs. Stopped for a visit. Did not camp. Beautiful place on the Metolius River.

Monte was ruined when the USFS went from primitive to modern camping with more signs Telling you which way to go than there were campsites. This money had to be spent due to an agreement with the dam producers by way of recreation improvements. Not an improvement. Stay away and find another campsite. Very disappointing.
