One of the best kept secrets in the Pacific Northwest, this campground is only a 45-minute drive from Bellevue and is peaceful and quiet. There's not a lot of amenities, but if you're going out this far in the woods, that's to be expected. There are vault toilets and running water, and clean campsites, and that's about it. You go here for the secluded escape into nature, not for amenities. We went with our teardrop camper and a pop-up shelter for a few nights and had an absolutely fantastic time. We will definitely come back here, one of my favorite campgrounds ever.
Nice large campsites with level pad for tents. We chose site 10 which was a more private site. Clean bathrooms (no running water). Close to tons of beautiful trails! Easy paved access. We've driven the quick 20 minutes into town for lunch or dinner when we've camped there. Firewood available from the camp host for $10/bundle. (However, we found cheaper, drier wood at the gas station in town).
The restrooms were surprisingly clean and didn't smell like most camp ground restrooms. The only issues on the restroom side was that one of the doors was hard to close and you had to constantly hold down the button on the hand dryer on that side. We were on the "B" side and the campsites were pretty close together and I was surprised by how much freeway noise we could hear overnight. The beach is a decent hike from the campsites, which is something to be aware of. You're either walking down a lovely hiking trail for a ways (it took us about half an hour with small kids) or walking along the road into/out of the park, which doesn't have a shoulder and the hill is steep. I highly recommend the hiking trail! Otherwise, it was a clean site and check-in was easy.
Beautiful area, so lush and green. Not a bad campsite to be had and more privacy than most. As someone else posted no water available currently so make sure to bring extra + to put out your fire. Hiking galore. 2 trails right next to site #11 (CCC and middle fork) are both well worth it. Oxbow trail on the way out made for a beautiful shorter hike.
I love all of nature and this area is very nice, safe and clean. The river could use what we Eastern Band of Appalachian Cherokee Natives call tending to on playing in the river and building little dams, children's swimming circles, and just basically overall erosion control on a more primitive and natural order of things that the Creator Placed us here to do as Stewarts of the land. Nature is best!!
