These cabins apartments are clean with lots of space, your just walking decent to down town McCloud. Kitchen has only a large fridge, coffee maker, and microwave - NO oven or stove if you do cook you will need to use the BBQ outside. Prices are great !! Steve is the owner and yes he is a very friendly guy- that will go out of his way to make your stay great while your there...

I like staying here when we are in the area. These are historic small homes built in the lumbering days. Roomy & comfortable. A bit musty if the units haven't been used lately but airs out fine. Stays cool. Full frig & microwave. No other cooking is allowed which is fine for us as we are on vacation from cooking.

Casual yet tidy rustic country inn across from Shasta View Inn. We were attending a wedding in Sept 2025 across the road. No pets.

Steve is truly the nicest person in existence, I can’t say enough good things about him or this establishment! He gave us excellent advice for where to go get some tasty food and was an utter sweetheart. Our family loved the rooms! The clawfoot tub was awesome, we plan on coming back soon.

For the price, this may just be the nicest place I've ever stayed. Each unit was originally a two-bed apartment when the building was constructed over a century ago, and for under $100 (plus $9 for every additional person after the first two) you get two separate bedrooms, one bathroom with an antique claw-foot tub, full kitchen, back porch and covered mud room and living room. The couch was probably as old as the building, and the cushions were actually supported with slices of T111 siding, but aside from that I have zero complaints. In retrospect, I'm glad the Mercantile was booked solid or I'd never have discovered this gem.
