Maverick Hotel and Casino

We've stayed in the past over several yrs and been satisfied with the rooms. But this time when we checked it our room was very warm for it being ground level. 75 deg when we got in. Turned on the air and set to 68 then went to dinner. Came back a couple of hours later to find it 73 deg. Called the desk and they said they would take care of it. Never happened and woke up @ 0400 with it nearly 80 deg in the room. |When checking out I complained about the hot room and was told they turn off all air conditioning to keep the pipes from freezing. It was 56 deg that morning. I then asked for a printed receipt and was told I couldn't get one because I booked through a 3rd party. I've booked through Booking.com for yrs there. Very run down! Not a 3 star at all. Housekeeping started knocking at 7 am. Then again at 8. Never had anything like it. They want you up and out. We Checked in late after driving 14 hours. Such a nightmare stay!

Now this ..THIS is what I'm used to at Red Lion (now, Maverick but it'll ALWAYS be Red Lion to me!) I even have a players card that is SO old, the kind folks at the Players Club cage had never even seen the old infamous "Green Card"! Had to update it to the modern version. I've been a long time frequenter of this place throughout the years.. My son lives here, but I come thru often because I live in Sparks, and this was always my go to up until about 3 years ago, that I had such a tragic experience, I abandoned my room for the 2nd night and stayed at Shutters. Positive: The rooms were nice and large and the beds fantastic Negative: They charge a resort fee… To maintain the property? Pool is outside, not heated no hot tub and no complementary breakfast. So the value for the dollars based on everything it’s just moderate.

This is NOT a Holiday Inn or like brand so don’t compare it to that type of hotel! Excellent value!! Clean Comfortable beds Quiet Huge room 2 sinks in our double room Large television screen Nice patio Large bath towel On the negative side the hotel needs a complete makeover. Carpet is very old. Toilet seat was so scratched it looked like poop on it. Blankets had holes in them. For the price this is a great place.
