DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! I made a reservation on June 3 for the weekend of June 27. On June 20, they contacted me to tell me they were cancelling my reservations because they had double-booked the cottage and the other person had made the reservations first. My guess is they were able to get more money for the cottage, so they cancelled our reservations. Then getting the refund was on me. The site does not honor refunds, so I am now dealing with my credit card company trying to get my money back. Talk about bad business. I would not trust them to make any reservations.
Our visit to Matlacha Cottages was the start and the highlight of our 12 day trip. We spent three days in total relaxed comfort. Our host, Marta, was fabulous and despite our attempts to have her join us on the dock, she refused, giving us total privacy and complete freedom on the grounds. We had a blast fishing, probably caught nearly 30 fish, mostly bonnet head sharks, and they are a hoot to catch. There were mangrove snappers, catfish, stingray and we saw a huge sheephead but he was very elusive. We enjoyed watching the dolphin in the morning and evening. The cottage was super comfy. Loved the cozy nature and the total cottage feel with beach colors and decor and the beautiful hardwood floors. One thing I really appreciated is I could walk the floors in sock feet or barefoot and
Clean! Nice two bedroom villa that backs up to the water. A great haven for escape. Experience Matlacha in its own unique quirkiness. A cross between Buffet and Hemingway. Sure to please all! Sadly destroyed during Hurricane Ian, this villa has been restored to its original unique character. The host is friendly, prompt and ever so hospitable. The sunsets set a high bar! Even the rain doesn't disappoint! Thanks for the great experience.
We stayed in the Pink Waterfront cottage for a week. It was small but had everything we needed for a week. The best part was the beautiful view of Matlacha Pass. The cottage had a small deck with a high top table and two chairs. There was a lovely deck overlooking the water that was shared by the three cottages. We began and ended our days with a peaceful view and lively conversation with the couples from the other two cottages. I highly recommend this place!
We love our little cottage on Matlacha! The street out front, the Main Street through the island, is noisy and often packed...but step outside your door and around the back and visit another world. Right on the water of Matlacha Pass with palms and a great deck! Dolphins and pelicans wander by. The fishing is great and the sunsets are spectacular! Michael couldn't be a more gracious host. Fresh towels delivered three times during our two week stay. Just call him for advice on a restaurant or attraction, he knows everyone! This is our second year coming to Matlacha Cottages and we couldn't be more pleased. Restaurants and shops within walking distance, many with live entertainment in the afternoons. Pine Island is close by with a wonderful Winn Dixie grocery store, gas station, and hiking t
