Mar Monte Hotel - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The hotel location was great. Near the beach and zoo. The room itself was average. Could really use a facelift. It had a damp, old smell to it. I believe I heard the hotel is about 90 years old. The AC was really noisy and made random rattling noises. The bath tub drain was not working properly. Also the walls are super thin. They put us near dog owners and the dog was barking non-stop till at least 12:30am. I tried to call front desk but it just rang out. It was NYE so probably had skeleton staff. Staff at check in and check out was very friendly. The lemon cookies on our first day was delicious but sadly we didn’t see any more after that! The staff at Lito was very nice and friendly. Food was a little slow. It was great to have the free self park option because valet was crazy expensive.

Positive: "" Negative: Besides being charged a resort fee of $159 parking was another $48 per night. Once we saw the sign for the cost of parking we opted to park on the street. The buildings are historic and you can smell the old wood.

Beware of the lines when you arrive because I had to wait half an hour before being able to check in and they don’t even have enough bell carts for my luggage. Parking is valet only and they charge around 50$ while street parking is almost impossible to find. The room is terrible, humid, lack of renovation and the sink could get clogged at any minute. The location is indeed nice but so are most other hotels or even motels around the area, whereas their ocean view rooms are not always available anyways. For a four star hotel they should be doing much better than they are right now.

We hosted our wedding room block at Mar Monte Hotel and truly couldn’t have been happier. From day one, Christy was amazing to work with, quick to respond, incredibly accommodating, and so easy throughout the entire process! We booked the Deluxe Ocean View Balcony Suite for the girls to get ready in the morning and it was the perfect size! And the balcony made it so fun for getting ready photos and popping champagne! Our guests all enjoyed their stay, the front desk staff were so sweet and welcoming, and the front lobby and patio ended up being the perfect spot for group hangouts throughout the weekend. Thank you so much Christy (and Mar Monte!) for helping make our wedding weekend feel so seamless and special!

I arrived today on an early flight (10a.m.). I did not expect I would be able to check-in, which was fine. I let the front desk attendant know that I was here and would appreciate any accommodation once check in was available to allow me to work today. I never heard another thing until after 4:00p.m., which is standard check in time. They did not offer to hold my luggage, make accommodations for me to work beyond sitting in the lobby, or offer me the chance to upgrade to a room that was ready for an additional fee. Worst of all, they did not ever text me as they promised. After sitting in the lobby for six hours, I got to wait in line to check in and learn my room was ready. If you're looking for an elevated service experience look elsewhere. It isn't here.
