A very quiet and relaxing place. Lots of deer and the kayak launch is very well organized. The toilets are very very clean and brand new. The walking trails are easy and there is beautiful vegetation. I will definitely come back!
Such a cute and quiet campground. This was our first visit and really enjoyed ourselves even though it rained some of the time. If you want to ride bikes or walk with your dogs/kids this place is for you. There's also a kayak/canoe launch. We didn't get in the water because it was cold but there's lots of it! The sites are large and I honestly don't think there's a bad spot there. It's a newer campground (will be 3 years old in April '24). Our son completed the Junior Range program they had there and got two patches. They have two programs based on age. They were fun. Will definitely go back. Oh yah and they have GREAT stickers for your RV. 😉 We had a hard time choosing!
Absolutely the best visit that I've ever had to a state park thanks to the amazing staff (including two (!) interpreters) at this location. Virginia. You have lovely people and lovely parks, but you're charging too much for campsites. Still worth every penny thanks to these amazing folks, though. Please, take any tour that is hosted by the interpreters here. You won't regret it and also thank you people of Virginia for making me feel welcome. I can't wait to visit again!
This is a quiet little state park I just realized existed. I came here for a special geocaching challenge that the Rangers set up. Not a lot of people here, so it was very peaceful and quiet – as relaxing as I was hoping it would be. There's also a small campground, and quite a few people in there today. I could not find a trail map, and the one on my phone wouldn't load a great deal of the time, but I quickly found out the trails are very easy to navigate. I took a side trail out of curiosity, and ended up standing in the parking lot where my car was. For the most part, it is accessible to all. There is what appears to be a hiking, or just walking, trail along the road, the whole way. I didn't see many people hiking, but the cyclists use the road.
The history of the area is worth it alone, but the the camp sites are Clean, spacious, and quiet. All of the Rangers were awesome too! Very modern amenities are available, all the sites minus the tent ones are electric & water. The dump station is directly across from the sites.
