There is a nice trail on the north side of the campground which was very nice to walk. I also enjoyed how close the lake was to the sites. Each site has a good distance from each other, which is nice for the privacy. However. There are not a lot of trees, so shade is hard to come by. Many sites have trees, but their foliage (evergreens) don't provide much of a shade on a sunny and hot day. The only downside to this place is that both days that I stayed there, it seems the locals had parties and church events with microphones and very loud speakers, so it killed the nature feeling when having to listen to a sermon from someone with a microphone, or to loud music into the night.

Very restful. Close to Alpine.. convenient for long term stay. I stayed 2 wks. Sometimes noisy: hwy sound, generators, construction work on hwy. Oh well. Very clean. Lots of birds, coyotes, elk. Friendly people. Tent sites not level and pines don't provide constant shade. Lots of wildflowers... Never seen so many different. The spaces are adequately spaced.

Great park, hiking was awesome. Make sure you bring your own water in the summer months.

We really love the area, but it needs to be cleaned up after the loggers cut most of the trees down opposite side of the road from the campgrounds. The bathrooms were clean and had running water. How ever we rented Group site C and most of the picnic tables were busted up. With about 6 camping families randomly our kids got sick and we could not find a common reason except for that the kids who were sick might have touched the lake water. It has been a long night and we are ending our camping early cause most of the kids clothes are covered in throw up or diarrhea, same with our sleeping bags.

New Mexico... camping ... no litter... potholes galore... washboarded roads... our upgraded trailer for back country boondocking snapped a spring, ruptured a propane line and gray line fittings loosened and leaked. Were not tenderfoots! Made me re-think about ever camping New Mexico ever again. Res indians are nice as are common folk. Businesses out of control. NM NEEDS A GOVENOR ... Signs are virtually non existant or sooooo itsy bitsy. Don't trust your navigation software OR LOCAL SIGNS. Weights and measures is asleep at the wheel. SEVERAL ALMOST ALL gas stations have pumps you can't read so FRONTLOADING IS RAMPANT. (Pull in to pump gas, pump is unreadable, (pump from previous person still active so their amount is now yours (front $ loaded to your amount))). You are charged you
