Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando

We had low expectations for a themed resort hotel. We only stayed at this Loews for the early park admission and unlimited express passes. We usually get two rooms but to get the most out of the $1,200 per night room (before tax) our family of four shared two queen beds. ||Let me say that this hotel exceeded my expectations and I would recommend everyone going to universal get in on this deal.||1. We checked in before 6:30am to grab our express passes and enter Islands of Adventure during early park admission. ||2. We did the math…and the cost of the express passes basically equal the cost of the room. The room is essentially free.||3. Walking to and from the parks or taking the boat was a nice experience. We just returned from another fantastic stay at Loews Portofino Bay at Universal Orlando, and once again the entire team made our visit truly memorable (Thank You Mathew Rogers!!). From check in to housekeeping, everyone was professional, welcoming, and attentive. A special thank you to the Club Level team. They were absolutely amazing throughout our stay, especially during the busy breakfast and evening service hours. We stayed at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel during Christmas and had a wonderful experience overall. The holiday atmosphere was festive without feeling overwhelming, and the resort felt both relaxing and special. The customer service via text was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay. The front desk staff were also excellent and thoughtfully accommodated my requests as part of the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits, which I really appreciated. We especially enjoyed the Christmas Day breakfast buffet at Mama Della. There was a wide variety of options, and it felt like a nice, relaxed way to start the holiday morning. Transportation to the Universal parks was very convenient—the boat ride was quick and enjoyable, and being able to arrive without dealing with parking was a big plus.

What a beautiful hotel and landscape! Every employee we encountered from the front desk to the cleaning staff were all extremely polite and friendly. The 2nd shift manager (Ja) was an amazing host! The ferry ride to the parks was quick and easy and is located right at the hotel. Food offerings were delicious. Rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The pools and hot tubs were never crowded and the kids pool was graded like a beach front that allowed littles to walk into the pool with ease. They played movies at night on an outdoor screen outside by the pool area which our 8 year old loved! I was very impressed with this place! It felt like being in little Italy. The room was perfect and the amenities were actually great. The beach pool was so cool! We went on a weekend where it was in the high 60s/low 70s so the hot tub was very nice to discover! Being able to order drinks poolside felt so luxurious. The boat that brings you to universal was so convenient, that was such a nice service. Janine at the front desk deserves a raise! She was the most helpful person I have met, hands down. She helped get us our universal passes, explained everything and was just so kind. She even gave us some coupons to use around CityWalk and my husband scored a free lanyard.
