This campground is perfect for those looking for a smaller, quiet, private campsite nestled in a busy National Park. This campground is perfect for tent campers. The sites along the lake offer the most privacy. You couldn’t even see our spot from the road thanks to all of the trees. Everyone who was camping here had great etiquette— quiet and respectful of each other. I found myself wanting to stay at camp and lounge around all to enjoy the peace and tranquility. We camped at Canyon Village in Yellowstone for a few days prior to coming to Lizard Creek, which was an awful experience, we stayed out late to avoid having to spend time at that campsite. Bears tend to frequent the campground daily, especially early morning, but never caused problems. Be sure to follow all food storage rules and
The Lizard Creek campground was great! The campground is managed by the nearby Signal Mountain Lodge. The campground does NOT offer shower or laundry facilities but these facilities can be found ~15 mins away. It was very convenient to stay in the park and be close to the hiking areas. Our site was directly on the water and was a no-generator zone. (There is also a car camping zone that allows generators). The bathroom facilities had muddy floors from the rain but were extremely clean other than that and had running water and soap. The gentleman that checked us in was nice and respectful. There are bear boxes provided or you can keep your food in the car. The sites were reasonably sized but very close together, there is a lot of trees for privacy though! There are also a lot of bear-proof
Great location! I was situated in the front with a walk in spot and it was nice and clean, had I only booked in advance though! There are so many great spots and amazing views further back! Examples I saw: 16-18, 20, 34, 35, 39-41, 46, 47, 53. I can’t say they are perfect just from driving by but those are ones I will pick next time. It appeared every site had a bear proof box. Bathroom was clean.
Not great scenery as it's in the forest. Host was extremely helpful and kind. It's a great spot if you're hitting up Yellowstone the next day as it's about 15 minutes from the south entrance. You can't really see the actual Grand Tetons from here
The campsites here felt more private than other sites I've been at in National parks! Not to mention the beautiful views of the lake. What I loved most was the check-in woman/campground manager (maybe not her title, but the women who lives at the front of the grounds) who would drive around in her golf cart to check in on everyone. She's the sweetest! She would check in on things a few times a day, and sometimes would take her pup for a ride. It made me feel safer. Thanks for a great and beautiful stay! P.S. the bathrooms were clean as well.
