We stayed in cabin 1 - it was the best! Very rustic for our lowkey getaway. I highly recommend!
First, we have just one complaint hence the 4 out of 5 stars. Please please replace the bed in cabin one. I think it was from the 80s and some of the springs were close to popping through. Thanks 🙂 Aside from that, the place is gorgeous, the cabin is rustic and enjoyable to be in, the mini appliances were nice to have. We enjoyed sitting outside and having a fire in the pit and using the grille. We had taken a peek at this cabin over probably 15 years ago and it is still kept up nice, we absolutely loved the rustic look and the fact that you could feel like you were miles off in the woods.
My husband and I rented a cabin for 2 nights here at Legions State Park. We stayed in cabin 5. It was perfect for us. Small, cozy, very rustic with a stone fireplace and a nice porch. This cabin overlooked a beautiful lake. This time of the year the leaves were beautiful fall colors and it was nice and cool. We had a nice fire going both nights. We did bring our on firewood. I suggest a full size memory foam for bed too because the one in cabin isn't real comfortable. The kitchen had electric stove and microwave, some dishes, pots and silverware and a coffee maker. We brought our own bed linens but the bed was made in the cabin. It did have bathroom soaps, wash clothes and towels, but we also brought our own. The park is well kept. The ranger at the front was so nice. We walked to the lo
This park has a nice trail around the lake that is mostly shaded with some hills and stairs to climb. It has several wooden bridges that were in mostly good repair. The bathroom was relatively clean for a camp bathroom. The playground is mostly shaded and clean with swings, slides, and climbing structures. One swing was broken. There are a couple picnic tables at the playground and some covered at the trail head parking area. It was $2/person (5 and under free) to get in. We enjoyed this park.
The RV campground has fallen into bad disrepair. None of the sites are level - mine was one of the most level, and even using all my leveling blocks I couldn't get level enough for my shower to drain. The sewer connection was unusable because it was higher than my drain. The bathrooms are clean and functional, but sketchy as heck - the showers don't have locking stalls, just curtains, and have a shared changing area. The fire pit was just a circle of stones and broken concrete pieces laid on the ground. But the power worked at least. The hiking trail around the lake is very nice, and so is the disc golf course, so for day use it's great, but I won't be camping here again.
