Laughing Lizard Inn

I booked my room through the hot springs (same owner) and got the advice to book room 4 on the end since it had an additional window. The room was quite clean, the bed comfortable (if you are OK with memory foam) and with the exception of occasional cars on the road outside, very quiet. The hot springs is across the road (and you get a discount by staying at their properties); Los Ojos restaurant is two doors down and serves up great bar food in a cozy atmosphere; the bakery is next door for diner food and coffee. |Everyone I talked to at every business was welcoming and helpful.|Just know that if you go off-season there are limited options for food and limited hours for many businesses. A little self-sufficiency goes a long way!

I try not to leave negative reviews but this experience turned into a nightmare when we were forced to find a campsite after dark in the New Mexico mountains. We had booked two nights in the tiny village of Jemez Springs. We liked the place our first night so we asked if they had a third night available. After using every available method to inquire; phone, email, website, even going to a different suggested business to ask in person, but It was closed. Our second day, we let them know we would not have a connection as we were hiking in the mountains and implored them to let us know quickly so that we would know if we had a place to stay when we got back. Still nothing. That afternoon they finally left a message saying it was not available and they had nothing else or even a suggestion.

Fancy? NO! However, the place is charming, the room spotless, everything worked (unlike so many places with non-working TVs or ceiling fans, etc.). A small fridge was located outside the room and (thankfully), there was no TV to distract from the surroundings. The decor matched the spectacular surroundings - very warm and comfortable. The manager/owner, as noted in the instructions provided, were not on premises but easily available by phone to answer a question I had. In summary, this was one of the nicest places I stayed out in my entire 10 day trip to New Mexico. I would easily give it a 10 out of 10. Oh yes, across the street is a hot mineral spring (great) and a right down the street is Los Ojos, which has great food, indoor and outdoor eating, and gracious service.

Great location, although the air never worked properly the entire time I was there. I was told to open a window, which was problematic because of the proximity to the road. Essentially, unless you are in a suite, you are paying for a motel room. In addition, they are not pet friendly, in my opinion. They advertise a 25.00 pet cleaning fee, but at checkout they tried to charge me 25 per night. Because they claimed there was dog hair in the bed, which was impossible because I crated my dog when I was not in the room. They also claimed that the shower was dirty from the dog, which is also hard to believe, since she almost never walked in there. If she did, a few paw prints? Of course the room needed to be cleaned after three days, but doesn't every motel room after a guess leaves? Finally, I

Very clean room with an excellent shower. 2 things you rarely get together at a hotel. Plus $10 off a soak at the hot springs makes it well worth it!
