Lake Marion Inn, Santee, SC

This room was so very clean. Cleanliness is the most essential part of a motel room!!! I saw absolutely no bugs anywhere. Not even a spider. The owner and desk lady on Saturday night were so friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable, slept great. It was an older place but kept up very nice.

I DO NOT recommend this place. My room was infested with bed bugs , I got switched but was still uneasy. Then the new room I got switched to air conditioner had problems staying on. The only thing that was decent about this place was the water pressure was good and the water was hot. I use to frequent this place with the prior owners/ management; they kept that place in top shape, and I never had any complaints. This is my first time going since the new management, although they are nice ; the quality of the place has gone down.

Very dirty and kinda sketchy. First room we were assigned smelled like raw sewage and the mini fridge was filled with tiny dead Nats. Manager was super nice and changed our room immediately. |The second room looked nice and smelled ok, until we started to unpack. |An unknown insect scurried across the head board. Maybe a centipede?|I saw the floor was dirty, not swept, sticky, pieces of trash by the bed. I was so tired after driving for 10 hrs that I figured it wasn't great but I can handle it as I had several hours to drive the next morning. |I always check the mattresses for bed bugs and I found blood stains. |I had a fold up cot in my car, pulled it out, and slept in my clothes, shoes on, no blanket or pillows. |The door to the room didn't lock totally, just the chain latch worked.

The property is an older motel but was exceptionally clean. The front desk and house keeping were amazing and went above and beyond. Motel is within walking distance of several restaurants and stores.

It was nice that we could do a very late check in, but the rest of the stay was not as good. If I had known I needed to bring my own cleaning supplies I would have chosen somewhere else to stay. The queen size beds were definitely full. No extra lock on the door just the regular one. We don't know the area, but did not feel safe.
