La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Abilene Mall

I was traveling cross-country with two cats, relocating from Georgia to Arizona, and chose this hotel because it was pet-friendly. It was conveniently located along my route and easy to find. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were polite. My room was clean and more than adequate for my needs.||The breakfast buffet was excellent, and I appreciated the overall convenience. However, the elevator and hallways could have been cleaner, and I felt the price was a bit high for the location. Additionally, during checkout, the front desk staff member seemed more focused on their phone than assisting guests.||Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay for travelers with pets, but there’s room for improvement in cleanliness and customer service.

Do not stay at this hotel! They give out keys to occupied rooms! My boyfriend checked into this hotel and had many issues with the front desk. He was frustrated but wanted to get some rest. When he got to his room, the key allowed him to go in but there were already guests in the room! They were horrified. Can you imagine what would have happened if they had thought he was an intruder and attacked him? He went back to the front desk and the clerk gave him another room key. He went to that room and there were guests in there as well! The clerk had given him keys to 2 rooms that were already occupied! The room was in unacceptable condition. There were exposed wires in the bathroom and near the AC, visible dust, handprints smeared on the headboard, and a box spring stained with an unknown yellow discoloration. Due to the cleanliness concerns, I requested a different room. At the front desk, a younger staff member was polite and initially accommodating. However, another employee intervened and stated my dogs were the issue. My dogs barked once in response to another dog barking at them. I was told they were untrained and a nuisance, despite me also being a paying guest. A male staff member then insisted my reservation should be canceled, rather than addressing the condition of the room or offering a reasonable resolution. This hotel looks very nice online but, in reality it needs to be totally shut down and redone. Rooms are very old and in serious disrepair, there is so much water damage and the carpet smells. There is also black mold and severe rust in some bathrooms and large water damage spots on ceilings. The staff are very friendly and try to be helpful and accommodating but, they can only do so much.On the plus side do have a decent continental breakfast with many choices and several sweet employees to answer questions and help with fresh coffee etc. The employees at the front desk try to help whenever they can and I do not hold them responsible for maintenance issues because, I am sure they are listening to all the complaints. Positive: Helpful staff and overall clean. 3rd time staying at this hotel and stay was better this time around compared to my stay approx. 4 months ago. Negative: Stand holding the microwave and refrigerate was broken and falling apart at the bottom. Dead Bug on floor between this cupboard and tv stand! Also needed to have directions on operating the TV.
