Cabins are rustic and charming, if quite expensive for what you get. Beds are comfortable and amenities are nice. Could’ve sat in front of our crackling fire for ages. Decent breakfast but takes a very long time and the chef was a bit rude. I also wish there were more food options considering there’s no kitchens in the cabin; we stopped by for lunch one day and lights were off and it felt like we were interrupting. No dinner options except for the expensive private dining. What’s most odd is the way staff come out of the lodge to accost you in the parking lot to make sure you are already a current guest before you even step out of your car. Demeanor changed when they learned we were guests. This felt uncomfortable every single time. I don’t really understand how they expect to get more bus
This was a relaxing place to be during our visit to copper harbor. It's awesome it's a dark sky park and you can go on the course at night to observe the night sky. The cabin was nice and rustic. Clean, clean and firewood is included foe an in cabin camp fire every night if you choose to. It was one of our favorite stays at a location and will come back again soon.
Learned while I was here with family, that in the future the golf course will be walking only and you must use there hickory stick golf clubs. Another change is that you must stay at their resort to have access to the course. This is not how Copper Harbor should operate and I have been coming for decades. Will miss being able to tee it up using normal golf clubs and riding the golf carts through the hills while staying in town. The new owners of this establishment must not have any clue how much this negatively impacts all visitors of Copper Harbor and other businesses in the area. I used to golf 3-5 times while on vacation and now I do not know if going back is even worth the drive without being able to play golf with my family and eat afterwards.
A fantastic place to "turn off", unwind, and truly take a vacation that meets the definition and purpose of "rest and relaxation". If you are determined to work on your vacation, this place will convince you that you need to reset your priorities (and not only because the wifi in the cabins is, let's say, "designed to build patience"!). I quickly came to the conclusion that this is the only place I wish to stay for my future trips to the Keweenaw Peninsula. The historical facilities and cabins are beautifully cared for, providing the perfect balance of "rustic" with "modern convenience". The grounds are breathtaking: worth the cost for their splendor and vastness (and I don't even golf!). Best of all, the owners and staff are some of the nicest, most caring people you will ever meet. Overall, I had a great stay at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, but a few details about my trip in specific The good: -The location is excellent, the grounds are excellent, and the access to biking/hiking/ORV trails are great. -The cabin was clean, it got pretty cold during my stay but the cabin stayed at a very comfortable temperature. -After check in, the service from the KML staff was great. They were very helpful with directing me towards things to visit that I wasn't already aware of during my previous copper harbor visits. The OK -The wood provided in my fireplace was wet. It hissed loudly and released large amounts of steam/smoke for over an hour while it was burning. This also meant that it didn't burn that hot (not good for me trying to dry out gear) -The café on site is really slow
