Stayed here two times, won't be the last. This is my favorite place to stay when in Charleston. Perfect blend of history and luxury. Comfortable, classy rooms. Delicious breakfasts. LOVE IT HERE! Special thanks to Jim who was very informative and friendly. Helped make it a great experience.

We stayed at the John Rutledge House Inn last week as a family of four, including our nine year old and spirited (read: feral) two year old kids. It was truly one of the most memorable travel stays we have had. While I can appreciate that our toddler was not likely a preferred guest, every interaction with staff was warm, patient, and full of true Southern hospitality. The other guests also embraced our children, which was appreciated. Staying in the spacious John Rutledge room was particularly special, as it felt like stepping back in time and it invited interesting conversations with our oldest child about the history of the property. The breakfasts were another delight. They were delicious, fresh and thoughtfully prepared each morning. If you are visiting Charleston and want a place tha

Absolutely perfect in every way. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea is lovely with delicious pastries and served on china. The breakfast is amazing with so many choices, and delivered whenever you ask. Again, served on china, either to your room, the ballroom, or the patio. The location is in the French Quarter which makes it convenient to walk to so many historical sites and restaurants. Go; you won’t be disappointed.

This is a great place to stay in Charleston. My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting for a long weekend and we would not hesitate to return. It has a great location, a very helpful and accommodating staff, and the hotel is of course beautiful. While it is historic, the rooms are comfortable with sufficient modern amenities.

Nice place, although I was hoping to see more of the house… but I guess it’s all been turned into guest rooms except the smallish ball room where you can have breakfast. The Carriage house we stayed at could have been any hotel room once you close the door. They put in steps to get into bed which are ridiculously too tall and unnecessary. TV was blurry and picture was not matched to the screen. The garden was lovely. The house very pretty. I have service a little low because the concierge could not be understood and he speaks well just too soft.
