JFK Rockaways Inn / Downtown Far Rockaway Hotel

My room was very nice. We had plenty of room to move around and be comfortable. The downside was no coffee maker and no coffee in the lobby. That was an inconvenience to me. I knew about the $100 cash deposit and the full amount was refunded to me at checkout. The neighborhood is not that great, as other reviews state. That didn’t really matter to us as we drove everywhere. The beach is a 7 minute drive. We weren’t there for the beach so that was fine for us, but may not be for others. It’s not that hard to look at a map and know it’s not on the beach!! Parking. Ugh! They don’t have very many parking spots. We were still able to get parking even coming back in the middle of the night. However, and not the hotels fault, someone blocked me in! I had to be somewhere by 9:00 and we couldn’t

Everything was great. Front desk attendant was very pleasant. It's a newer hotel (~2 months as I post this) and they're still working out a few things, but nothing crazy. It's clean and comfortable with decent free breakfast. Rooms are small, but it's NY. The property is definitely not as close to the airport as I would have liked, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the hotel. I'd stay here again.

Visually this hotel is very nice inside. The room was nice, clean, spacious. The rooms do have mini-fridges, however our fridge was not working. The rooms do not have microwaves, which was very annoying. The service definitely needs improvement. The young ladies at the front desk are nice, however they are extremely unprofessional. Answering their cellphones while they are supposed to be helping you and being very loud at the front desk (our room was closest to the front desk). They are also not very safe. Our room key was not working when we came back from an outing and my mother went to the front desk and told the young lady. Ok. I stayed 4 nights here. I have not encountered any of the things the other reviews even mentioned. The front desk people where extremely friendly and when I asked for more towels they where brought to me in minutes. They is a nice electric fire place in the meeting area and coffee and tea free of charge. They even had a microwave to heat up my soup. The room was extremely updated. Extremely small but I'm not there to live,just sleep. The bathroom was very clean and really nice. I did not see one bug when I was there. My only complaint would be the smell of pot in the entrance. But like most hotels some smell like cigarettes some have the pot smell. The one thing I did like was the direct TV and free wifi. They had all the channels. And free parking. Honestly not very picky when it comes to hotels and I can honestly say this hotel has the potential to be a very good hotel for its price and even more. It’s very nice our only complaint was the staff members. The front desk girl is very rude, we asked for towels and was told there are none when we pressed the issue more we saw her open a big door full of towels so it makes her look very rude, also she was sleeping in the main lobby on the couch, which makes customers uncomfortable to ask for help. she would also ignore the phone calls as we watched her silence one of our calls by having to walk all the way down stairs just to see her ignoring the call. We also heard her talking bad and profile us in Spanish not knowing we’re hispanic. I honestly would love to stay in this hotel and am sur
