Island View Hotel Bar Harbor

David, at check in, was delightful. It all went downhill from there. The room was nice but we were on the far end facing the road and we didn't realize we could have parked closer until after we left. They don't have microwaves in the room, the refrigerator does not have a freezer compartment. There is a microwave upstairs for communal use. We stayed two nights, and there was keurig coffee available for the first morning. I had to use the keurig to heat little cups of water to sponge bathe the morning we departed because they had no hot water nor did they know when that would be resolved. No compensation was offered. For a $250+ room/night we really expected a lot more.

We took a 2 night trip to Acadia National Park and were so pleased with our stay to the Island View Hotel Bar Harbor. It was a last minute decision and I was afraid we wouldn't find availability close by. I was also hesitant to book Island View as I read all available reviews and some from previous years were not positive. I will say without a doubt that we made an excellent choice. The hotel is definately dated and lacking frills of other places, but was just right for our stay. There was coffee in each unit and a convenient ice machine. The location is excellent with close proximity to the Park and restaurants. There's a nice view from the waterview rooms. King bed was very comfortable and unit was clean. Our first interaction with David in the office made us feel right at home

Despite the prior reviews given, I have had a totally different experience (literally just got back home yesterday). There is new management in place and let me say David is absolutely fantastic! He greeted my partner and I with such enthusiasm and gave us cool vibes energy making our weary selves having done intense hike days prior to making us feel so relaxed and at home. He provided us great food recommendations which is a door down from the hotel (still have to try it since we never got a chance to— meaning we will be coming back again for sure) and other great local spots. What a fabulous find! Right at the entrance to Acadia, its located off the main road, so its super quiet and private. David checked us in couldn't have been nicer! Knowing we'd never been before, he highlighted all the sights and the best way to see them. Room has a fridge and microwave on the main floor shared by other rooms. Each room has a porch area and believe me, pay the extra couple bucks and get the Harbor view, its totally worth it!

My expectations were low based on the very reasonable rates. Dave at the front desk was amazing from check in throughout my stay including dinner suggestions. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and the service exceeded many lodgings with higher price tags. The view was excellent as well. It seems as though much has changed since those negative 2024 reviews. Definitely recommend
