Acadia Gateway Motel

My husband and I booked several nights here when visiting Maine on vacation in August 2025. The place was perfect for our needs, despite it being a little small. It was clean and serviced every day, which kept the place fresh. Although it is just off the busy road, it's not too noisy. The owner was super friendly and helpful.

We had an enjoyable one-night stay. The motel was certainly a throwback but quite charming. Loved being able to park right in front of our room! Our room was clean and very comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful. Yes, a decent amount of vehicle noise but we are not light sleepers.

With exception of the top comforter/quilt (which had a texture that indicated it was old, worn, used), the room felt clean and reliable. Sheets and blankets were fresh and we just avoided the quilt. It really did give me a “yuck” feeling. Everything else was good enough for a cheaper “cabin” type experience. Do expect that the rooms are outdated and the shower pressure is very low / water takes time to heat up. If you want to feel very comfortable, maybe look elsewhere. But overall, a reliable place to save some money.

This was a lovely little hidden gem near Bar Harbor. The room was clean, included a kitchenette. There was a rocking chair and large bathroom. Very comfortable. Windows opened for fresh air. The road was noisy at first but quieted down through the night. We would stay here again!

Really unfortunate that I am writing this review, this past weekend my wife and I went up to camp in Acadia. We were set to arrive at 11pm and decided to stay here so that we didn't set up a tent so late. We arrived after closing and when we went into the room there were bugs in the shower and spiders in the room (there was a really big one that must have had the others) being so late we left and called the next morning (ended up camping) at 7am but were told we would not receive a refund under any circumstances even if it had been infested with rats. Wish we had taken pictures to share but we were in a hurry to set up and honestly didn't think we wouldn't receive a refund given that the room wasn't in habitable condition. When choosing your next stay maybe skip this one!
