Inn At Old Orchard Road

On October 15, we received a phone call from Betsy (Elizabeth De Waard) at the Inn at the Old Orchard Road asking us why we had not checked in yet. We explained that we were not supposed to check in until the next day on October 16 as was agreed upon (see attached photo of the paper confirmation that was sent by Betsy via USPS - they do not send confirmations via email). She audibly sighed and very angrily told us that in her 29 years of experience, this has never happened and we would just have to get a hotel. We said it was fine that a mistake was made, and we would just come tomorrow, but then she revealed the real reason she wanted to bump us. Elizabeth (Betsy) was an absolute joy! She made us feel welcomed and wanted. Her desire was to pamper us and she was very successful. We loved her stories and she was anxious to hear ours. The breakfasts that she serves will not be beaten by any 5-star restaurant. The bedroom was comfortable and homey. The bathroom was small but the charm of the rest of the property more than makes up for that inconvenience.

We stayed with Betsy during the tulip festival!! It was truly a beautiful experience! She was so knowledgeable about the history & what the area had available! The rooms were exquisite! It was a very memorable trip & her breakfasts were amazing & I’m gluten free & she just made the best breakfast every morning!! Thank you for a really lovely time!

The host/owner, Betsy, is welcoming, personable and professional. She wants visitors to enjoy Holland and the vicinity, and since she has lived here for years, she shares suggestions and information. We really appreciated that, as it helped us navigate and understand the area.|This is an older house which has been remodeled to provide ensuite bathrooms, so a couple of them are small. This didn't bother us, because Betsy provided good options for laying out our bathroom stuff.|The Inn is located in a lovely neighborhood. We didn't notice any traffic noise after 10 pm or so, and we had the window open. It's a short, easy drive to downtown. We loved our stay at the Inn at Old Orchard Road! It is a very charming home with a beautiful garden to spend time in. It was comfortable, spacious, and clean. Betsy is so kind and lovely to chat with. She made is feel very comfortable and at home. We can't wait to return.
