Imperial Motel Grand Forks

I have no words… Usually the saying is you get what you pay for… Not the true with my experience staying with Imperial Motel. I wasn’t expecting a 4 or 5 star stay but for $169.00/night I do expect to fee safe and expect my room to be clean. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were after driving 5 hours from Vancouver. We decided to stop at Imperial Motel before finishing our road trip to Trail BC. The sheets were dirty and had stains on one of the two queen beds. The only bright spot was the employee who was friendly and attempted to be helpful within his control. We attempted to ask for a partial return on our room as we agreed that we didn’t feel comfortable staying overnight. No surprise – they wouldn’t even give us 10% of our money back. A very basic motel. Room smelled of smoke and beds were somewhat hard. No blow dryer in the bathroom. Shower went scalding hot and freezing cold on one occasion. Otherwise quiet and clean and no noise problems! Convenient for a short stay.

We have stayed here several times through at least three owners. We thought it was getting better but our two nights stay recently made us rethink this assumption. The motel is deteriorating and upgrades that were done to the room we last stayed in had a definite DIY disaster feel. The sink backed up a couple of times - major plumbing issues are on the horizon. The furniture is battered and stained. The laminate floor (not a good idea for a motel) was poorly installed and showing considerable wear. Ventilation is poor. The beds were comfortable. I don't think we will be returning.

Family-run motel. Very cheap if you are in a budget and you'll get the basics. It is conveniently located right on the highway and near amenities if you want to have dinner or do some shopping. The owners are really friendly and have a genuine interest in helping make your stay better, whether by giving you advice on where to go in the town or providing your with what you need for the room -- they a real asset for the motel. The room seems old and has old furniture and the comfier on top had a hole probably from an old cigarette. But in all honesty, the place was clean and considering the price, I can't complain, this is why I give it 5 stars.

Rooms are clean, king size bed was very comfortable and felt new. Was upgraded room for free by very friendly staff. Also was allowed to bring my 2 well behaved German Shepherds even though sign says small dogs only. Would recommend and will stay again while passing through
