Idlewyld Bed & Breakfast

Idlewyld is stuck in time in the most charming way! Dan is a wonderful host, and you feel more like you're guests in his home than strangers. His breakfast (included) is the best in Lakeside. The rooms haven't been redecorated in a while, but that's part of the charm. They're clean, comfortable and charming. If you want modern décor, stay at a Courtyard Inn. It's in a perfect location. On a peaceful street, a 5-minute walk from everything you need. The big front porch with comfortable Amish-made rockers is a perfect place for chatting and people watching. Incredible value for everything it offers. I'd give the place more than 5 stars if I could.

The Idlewyld is a 140 year old heritage property lovingly maintained and run by a wonderful couple. Hand made quilts, cross stitch work, and incredible breakfasts will great you every day. The hosts are a wealth of knowledge in this community they have called their summer home for many a year. The location in Lakeside right next to the auditorium with its nightly music events (they even have a full symphony orchestra!), is also only short block walk from main street and two blocks from the Pavillion and lake Erie! Beautiful sunsets at your doorstop; friendly people and local artisan shops make this a wonderfully quiet and relaxing spot. Three restaurants and a few coffee shops round out a quaint little village. Lots of water sports are available as is the village standard of shuffleb

Idlewyld is operated by Mr Dan Barris. There are beautifully decorated rooms available: singles, two singles, doubles, two doubles, additional folding beds available... An architecturally HISTORIC homey, inviting building. Breakfast is offered daily around 8am... No one goes away hungry (waking up, one is greeted by wafts of delicious aromas as breakfast is prepared). An assistant, Rhonda, has been with Mr Barris 27+ years- she helps with repairs, laundry, and housekeeping. Idlewyld B&B is on Walnut Street within the gated community of LAKESIDE. A plus is Idlewyld is directly across the street from the Hoover Auditorium where many events and concerts are held throughout the summer. A walk northbound on Walnut Street takes one to Lake Erie... and is surrounded by many downtown stores: foo

Dan and Joan are wonderful hosts! Delicious breakfast everyday and very comfortable rooms. We have been staying at Idlewyld for years and can't imagine staying at any other B&B in Lakeside! The rocking chairs on the porch make it possible to listen to some of the concerts held at Hoover Auditorium which is conveniently located right across the street

My wife has been coming to Lakeside and staying here since she was a child. After we got married, we decided to continue to tradition. I love staying with Dan. The rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced. We also love the front porch atmosphere of conversations and reading.
